I’m thankful for Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving trailer (and for Morgan’s impression of the V.O. guy). (via joblo)

Don’t know why I didn’t post this earlier in the week, but regardless the trailer for Greg Superbad Mottola’s follow-up, Adventureland, premiered this weekend in front of some sucky teenage movie.  Unlike the unabashed raunch and hilarity of the Rogen/Goldberg script, the personal Adventureland looks to strike a more nuanced, emotional, and yet funny tone — and it looks a...

Quite an understated yet beautiful trailer for Aronofsky’s The Wrestler.  Rarely do tears mean something in mass media after their crass commercialization over these years, but that tear straggling down his synthetic and craggy face feels real and earned. (via cinematical)

Choco-Choco-Stalin
Land-line phones have the most delightful rings here.  They playfully chime like ice cream trucks.  Unfortunately, this leads me at least twice a day to shoot my head up like a meerkat and peek out the window to see if a purveyor of rocket popsicles is passing by.  Alas, I am always left with my head down, popsicleless.

Listen, Budapest, let’s make a choice here: which escalator goes up, and which goes down?  Because changing the direction every other day leads to far too many embarrassing situations.

What's in a name?
A big hat’s off to Feelings Diner: my first burger & shake experience in Budapest was most pleasant.  Real, fresh meat as if picked off my mother’s grill matched with a shake so authentic ice cubes sat on the bottom made me feel right at home.  The posters of American diners and neon red, white, and blue lights?  A little disconcerting, now that you mention it.

First Hildy, now Pam?
Harry Crane is a player… with a heart of gold. Also, as Will Leitch notes on Vulture, the insinuation that Pam always craves the new (after feeling repressed by the anchor of the old for so long), which at one point was Jim and now is “art school,” offers a brave new direction for the series and a major expansion of character dimensions for Dunder-Mifflin’s favorite...

In after election trading. . .
Grandpa’s FW: emails pushing Republican propaganda way down while we see a rise in religious- and saccharine-FW:s.

Even I’ve made this joke, but, “What is Up?” The first substantial trailer for Pixar’s next masterwork, the dream-/Aardman-/child-like Up, from Monsters, Inc.’s Pete Doctor (who seems to have once again struck the balance of young glee and imagination with a slight sense of melancholia). Relax.
The media are already pushing two memes that are proving worrisome to many: that the resurgent Democratic party needs to walk on eggshells so as not to appear overzealous with their White House win and expanded congressional majorities, and that Barack Obama faces an insurmountable challenge in trying to placate an unruly leftist base… Forget the fact that both these arguments are prima...
