When inmates run the prison
Matthew Weiner’s thematic drive in season two of Mad Men (the repercussions of a lack of punishment/judgment/retribution when everyone is a child) could not come at a more prescient time.
Max Payne featurette done in the style of the video game’s graphic novel thru-scenes. Add in winged demons and noir voice-over and you have one internet video bursting at the seams with genre/cross-platform influences. (via IGN)

Policymakers should focus instead on people who really need a safety net right...
– Robert Reich? More like Robert Right.
Nothing speaks more damningly of the American electorate than the temporary post-election “bumps.” It says that Americans can obtain and retain vital information for less than two weeks (in the case of the Democratic bump, less than a week) before the next shiny new object grabs their attention. To put it bluntly, this is why Rovian tactics work and why we need to stop honoring those...

While sharing the aesthetics of Being John Malkovich and the obsession with creation of Adaptation, Charlie Kaufman’s directorial debut Synecdoche, New York is still, naturally, a creation all its own. A huge, sprawling, messy creation of its own. (via /Film)

Sometimes I feel like my job’s a Beckett play.
I can think of few more fitting sponsors for Charlie Gibson’s sit-down with Sarah Palin than Citgo.
A quite excellent trailer for the new Bond, Quantum of Solace, which has more than a couple of money shots, particularly the (seemingly still in progress) push over the rail through the glass ceiling below. If the film can keep the propulsive energy of Casino Royale while losing long, pointless expository sections, this film could truly propel the series back into the national consciousness and...

Isn’t saying “Brian Wilson’s Southern California-themed album” redundant?
Wow, thank you.

Trailer for Judd Apatow’s Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
While certainly promising (“Why the fuck aren’t we watching that right now?”/”Are you slow?”), the film undeniably has the feeling (aside from marketing’s 40-Year-Old bright backgrounds) of an Apatow joint. (via joblo)
[A 24 Hour Trip to New York]
A “photo-romain” I composed while on a cross-country business trip. Maybe you will find some bit of joy in it. Perhaps not.
(May I suggest full-screen so that you can read the subtitles, though they are not necessarily necessary.)
When is there not a “high number of uploads right now,” Vimeo?
