New Jeunet!  How can you tell it’s really him?  Not a flesh-tone in sight. While I have little idea what is happening in this French trailer (a man gets shot in the head… with hilarious results?), the film stars French comedian Danny Boon and is directed by a man who has waited far too long to step behind a camera again.  (via CHUD)

Michel Gondry on working with Actors It’s really interesting to see an interview with Gondry about something besides his homegrown, in-camera tricks.  He’s more even-keeled and introspective than his work lets on. (via robhuebel:makingofmovies)

No On 8.
I’m going to drink this cup of coffee—would you like some? I didn’t think so. You’re more of a juice-box man, from what I gather. The way I gather this is by looking at the stain on my ninety-eight-dollar pants, the one you made when you put your juice box there. If I touched your pants, Timmy, I would probably be sent to jail. There are lots of differences between you and me, but that’s one of...

Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island What starts off as Leo and Ruffalo on a trip to Jackson Kong Island quickly devolves into a boilerplate ’90s psychological thriller (with a twist?).  If it weren’t Scorsese at the helm and Leo in the lead, this movie would seem more a February/September release instead of major prestige picture (Ben Kingsley doesn’t help in that...

This promo short for Paper Heart may be the funniest Jack Black has ever been.  In these two minutes, he tweaks himself more than in the two hours of Tropic Thunder.  (via CHUD)

Zach Galifianakis is funny and Method.
Judd Apatow makes a movie about a twenty-something who rejects latent adolescence and makes a real attempt to “grow up” for his impending child, and everyone claims Apatow doesn’t like women, revels in “dudeness,” and is generally a pretty terrible person. Todd Phillips makes a movie that revels in its latent frat boy’s amoral antics; idolizes the bro-bond one...

And Now For Someth -
On NPR’s “Morning Edition” today, they had two American pundits debate the impact/grandeur of Prezbobama’s speech today.  Then Rami Khouri of the American University of Beirut entered the fray with an interesting viewpoint: he stated his desire for Mr. Obama to realize in his speeches that the “Muslim world” extends beyond the Middle East.  One does not define...
