One way to tell from these new trailers (aside from the neo-F-Zero style) that the Wachowski siblings shot Speed Racer predominantly on green screen is Emile Hirsch’s absurdly serious line readings in front of eye-searingly bright neon backgrounds. Maybe there’s a reason “live-action cartoons” aren’t made after Rocky & Bullwinkle and The Flinstones (though John Goodman did not learn his lesson).
